Project Details

Scope of Work: CCUK has worked on several projects with Ramboll over the years, this project, a major refurbishment and multi-level extension of an existing building structure complete with vehicle lift void was one of the more complex design solutions in 2019. The project came to us as design and build contract through J Coffey Construction and MACE who appointed Coghlan Consulting as their nominated engineers to help derive load and moment information to allow FRP design with Fibrwrap Systems.

The Challenge

Significant increase of imposed loads to the existing structural elements (design changes) resulted in structural strengthening requirements to multiple area’s including beams, solid slabs and waffle floors during the construction phase.

The Solution

CCUK used the analysis provided by Coghlan Consulting Engineers to design a Fibrwrap CFRP strengthening system for each area. The subsequent ‘design strategy’ enabled the successful application of our FIBRWRAP CFRP system to beams for hogging and sagging, solid slabs, waffle slabs and shear walls using Fibrwrap Carbon Fibre Strengthening Systems.

The Result

Working in partnership with the engineering teams and the main contractor in a congested and at times difficult work environment, our experienced site team once again delivered on time and to budget.
