Project Details

Scope of Work:OGS in Manchester, former homes for Granada Television and later ITV and the famous Coronation Street Set is undergoing a full refurbishment, its new life will consist of 175 hotels rooms with a bar and restaurant.

The Challenge

Challenges included:

  • Working to very tight time scales
  • Coordination with other works on site
  • Working in restricted environment

The Solution

CCUK successfully designed and delivered carbon fibre strengthening works to all 9 floors of this exclusive development. Tyfo Fibrwrap Systems were used to carry out strengthening around the columns for ‘punching shear along with columns strengthening for axial loading and beam strengthening for flexure. The project was split into 2 phases working from the 9th floor down, later on additional also works carried out by CCUK included concrete repairs and fire protection works.

The Result

Structure was strengthened to enable the expansion of the building with a minimum disruption of its aesthetics and sizes of structural elements.
